Hello, and welcome! I'm Lauren Bird, and this is a little about my journey into  photography.

My interest in photography and capturing memories started when I was young, but I never did much about it. For years I wanted to learn how to operate a camera and take high quality photos, but it was easy to make excuses as to why I shouldn't. It wasn't until I was out of college and well into my 20's before I finally pursued this hidden interest of mine.

I graduated from BYU in 2013 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and, with some graduation money gifted to me, I purchased my first DSLR camera from my husband's cousin. I signed up for two photography courses at a nearby university, and finally was able to stop shooting on auto. Shortly  thereafter we moved to Southern California.

There were a lot of uncertainties about where to go next in regards to my hobby, and for the next few years I only pulled my camera out for big events, at the request of my siblings, or to take our annual Christmas card picture. I have always been interested in newborn photography, and began following online courses in the subject, though I found the wrapping and posing of babies to be very tedious and often stressful. It just wasn't quite clicking for me.

In the summer of 2017, after completing an eye-opening course on lifestyle newborn photography, I decided that the only way I would improve was if I had accountability. I created this website and social media pages, and put myself out there, using many friends as models. Looking back, I see improvement that excites me, though I know I have much progress ahead of me. Family sessions can be so fun, and my heart still rejoices when I can capture all the details of a newborn baby.

My husband, Jared, and I have been married for eight years and have a son and daughter who have  completely stolen our hearts. We love being together (hello quarantine), playing at the park, and Friday night movies with popcorn and m&m's,
